In an attempt to satisfy our never ending quest for the "lunker", Sarosha Stockton and Brian Chard of Nelson, British Columbia, Canada have created the website KootenayAngler.com. We are NOT fishing guides. We've just created this website devoted to our pursuit and celebration of fishing in the Kootenay Region of British Columbia, Canada. In particular, we focus on our adventures fishing in Kootenay Lake, Trout Lake, Cottonwood Lake, the Columbia River, the Slocan River, and everything that flows in-between.
This fishing website showcases our fishing photos, fishing videos, local fishing holes & hot spots, and regional fishing information & links relevant to all anglers, especially those fishing in Nelson, Castlegar, Trail, Salmo, & Kaslo, British Columbia, Canada. As well, we hope to cater to those who dream of fishing the West Kootenay Region of British Columbia, Canada from elsewhere in the world.
Kootenay Lake is home of the Canadian record Gerrard Rainbow Trout (36 + pounds). And the Columbia River is the home of the largest game fish in North America, the White Sturgeon. The Kootenay Region is also known for spectacular Rainbow Trout, Bull Trout, Walleye and Kokanee. The Kootenay Region offers exceptional fishing opportunities in amazing scenery whether fly fishing, spin casting, or trolling in a boat. The Kootenay Region is Region 4 in the BC Fishing Regulations.
